Publisher's summary

Brought to you by Penguin. The audiobook of The Light Fantastic is read by Colin Morgan (Merlin; Testament of Youth; Belfast). BAFTA and Golden Globe award-winning actor Bill Nighy (Love Actually; Pirates of the Caribbean; Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) reads the footnotes, and Peter Serafinowicz (Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace; Shaun of the Dead) stars as the voice of Death. Featuring a new theme tune composed by James Hannigan.

'Darkness isn't the opposite of light, it is simply its absence...what was radiating from the book was the light that lies on the far side of darkness, the light fantastic.'

The Discworld is in danger, heading towards a seemingly inevitable collision with a malevolent red star, its magic fading. It needs a hero, and fast.

What it doesn't need is Rincewind, an inept and cowardly wizard who is still recovering from the trauma of falling off the edge of the world. Or Twoflower, the well-meaning tourist whose luggage has a mind (and legs) of its own.

Which is a shame, because that's all there is....

The Light Fantastic is the second book in the Wizards series, but you can listen to the Discworld novels in any order. The first book in the Discworld series—The Colour of Magic—was published in 1983. Some elements of the Discworld universe may reflect this.

It is, fantastic!

This narrator clearly has an affinity for the author and these books. Very easy to listen to, and funny.

Best book series ever. Love the narrator as well. Rincewind is like an old friend.

best make believe history

I loved the characters and the whole setup. Satire at its best. All the characters as a whole and separately make together a wonderful tale.

Great version.

I do miss Nigel Planer’s sad slacker reading of Rincewind. And Nye and Serafinowitz seem a bit underutilised. Still, good fun.

Great fun!

The writing is so witty and funny. The characters are well developed. Great follow up to the first. Completely worth the credits.

Rincewind grew on me

I definitely enjoyed this Wizards book more than the first one! Wonderful narrator and lovely story with some great payoffs in the end!

A great continuation

I thought the book was even better than the first one. There was an underlying plot for this book instead of just the characters moving from situation to situation, which was a nice improvement. I would recommend the book and I'll probably continue on with the series.

Brilliant! i laughed so hard.

This book is beautiful, wonderful, whimsical and hilarious! A tapestry of absurdity that still somehow makes perfect sense. Once you visit SIS world you'll never see reality quite the same way again. every
