About this listen

Sophie is at work on Friday morning, when the power goes out. As she waits for it to be restored, she notices that her fully charged cell phone won’t turn on. A horrifying thought crosses her mind, and she runs to look out the window. The street is full of cars that are all stalled, and people milling around looking at their non-working cell phones. She realizes that this is much worse than a simple power outage, and that she must act quickly if she wants to survive. Sophie convinces a co-worker to join her attempt to get home, even though in her heart, she knows deep down that she will be disappointed when she gets there.

Really interesting story. I learned some stuff about being prepared/prepping, while being entertained. Engaging narration.

I learned a thing or two!

Very tame. Writing is simple and really isn’t based. Things aren’t happening realistically. I could listen to it but not sure if I’d get a next in the series.

Amateur writing, amateur narration

The narration is good. The story is good. The title however is a bit misleading as 90% of the book takes place on the homestead. I enjoyed the unusual yet tasteful romance.

Great Book. Not what I expected...

I listened to the whole book out of respect to the author because I could never write and publish a book. However, I wanted to stop after an hour.
Much of the time it felt like I was being given a list. The characters were never developed and often felt like caricatures.
I like the subject, it could have been especially interesting because it was written from a female perspective. But, unfortunately, I thought it failed. I will not be buying the subsequent books.

Shallow
