About this listen
The book breaks down into several sections that collectively help a Diabetic understand how to eat better, Hydrate, and help reduce or eliminate Diabetes Medication. Reducing or eliminating Diabetes medication does not apply to Type 1 Diabetes, Type 1 Diabetes is a different pathology from all other types of Diabetes.
- The book starts with information on Diabetes, what it is, and the effect it has on a person’s body as well as the possible complications and risks
- pH – what it is and how pH balanced water especially can help hydrate the body and match the body’s pH balance.
- Hydration is important for the general population, but more so for Diabetics. The kidneys are the body’s filtering system. Blood flows through the blood vessels of the kidneys, where toxins and waste go from the blood to the urine. People with diabetes are at a higher risk for kidney disease as high blood glucose (sugar) levels and high blood pressure can damage the kidneys over time. This damage results in the kidneys being unable to properly filter the blood. Kidney damage due to diabetes is called diabetic nephropathy.[1]
- Alkaline water, I believe, is best for hydration, food preparation, and general hygiene for the whole population, not just Diabetics.
- Glycemic index (GI) – what it is, how to look it up or calculate Glycemic Load from GI
- The Low Glycemic Index Diet (LGID) and Low Carbohydrate Life Style (LCFS) are key pillars in the Lifestyle changes I made to reduce, and eliminate, my diabetes medication.
- There are no recipes or menus in this book! Education about the benefits of Alkaline water especially for a diabetic, understanding what are beneficial foods, and eating strategies are more important than predefined and “restrictive” diets.
- Learn how to eat according to the Glycemic Index and the eating style or plan will fall into place and become something you can live with for the rest for your life.
- Remember once diagnosed a Diabetic you are always a diabetic. What you want to be is a diabetic who controls their condition through diet
