About this listen

When frumpy Jo Hill lands a position as a PA at Gloss magazine, it's the job of her dreams - but it soon becomes a nightmare.

As a mousy secretary with a passion for giant bags of Maltesers and comfy shoes, Jo doesn't fit in at the uber-chic office. Her boss humiliates her, her colleagues bitch about her, and even the receptionist ignores her.

Though Jo might be overweight and overlooked, she's different in other ways too. She's bright, ambitious, and smart, and what's more, she has a plan. By the time she's finished, the magazine world - and Joshua - won't know what's hit them.

An enjoyable listen about the prevailing underdog

Nice little brain candy story. The narrator's voice was pleasant as well. Never a slow moment in this story.

Predictable but enjoyable

I was not expecting much when I downloaded this audiobook having never heard of this author. When you have chronic insomnia and it is two AM, well a girl needs some Chick lit to help her through the night. The first scene in the book made me cringe but I stuck it out and the book became interesting and I got invested in the characters. I enjoyed this novel but then again I am so sleep deprived perhaps I am not a reliable reviewer.

Mia is a great read

This is a well thought out, well written look at the glossy magazine industry and the effect that the glossies can have on their readers...and the grass is not always greener on the other side!

SECOND CHANCE

THIS BOOK WAS ONE OF SEVERAL BOOKS SITTING IN MY LIBRARY THAT JUST TOOK UP SPACE. I DIDNT LIKE THE NARRATORS VOICE OR THE OTHER CHARACTORS.WHEN I READ THE DESCRIPTION I REALLY LIKE IT AND THOUGHT WHY NOT. THEN I FOUND OUT THE BOOK IS BASED IN LONDON (WHICH MEANS ACCENT). I REALLY WASNT IN THE MOOD FOR THAT AND WOULD HAVE NEVER GIVEN IT A CHACE BECAUSE OF IT. DECIDED I WANTED MY MONEY BACK TO GET ANOTHER BOOK. AFTER I LISTENED TO EVERYTHING IN MY LIBRARY I CAME BACK TO THE MAKING OF MIA. I WAS REALLY SHOCKED THAT I ENJOYED THE BOOK. THE AUTHOR REALLY DID A GREAT JOB WRITING IT. ONCE YOU GET PAST THE FIRST 2-3 CHAPTERS IT WAS REALLY HARD TO TAKE A BREAK FROM IT. I LOVED THE ENDING. THIS BOOK MIGHT NOT HAVE BEEN MY FIRST CHOICE BUT I AM COMPLETLY SATICEFIED WITH IT AND WILL BE LISTENING TO IT AGAIN IN A FEW MONTHS OR SO. I GIVE IT 4 OTU OF 5.

Good but...

Sometimes the main character was just a little too dense or lacking self confidence to tolerate, but in all I definitely enjoyed listening to the book...

Don't bother

One of the worst books I've ever read. I'm embarrassed that I bothered to finish it but I'm hooked on audiobooks and didn't have another one to begin.

only ok

Not too bad, but It seems to jump too far ahead without explanations. It would have been better to have a bit more detail with the characters lives and what happens and how they arrived where they did. A light 'read' but not one of my favs.
