About this listen
Winter 1946. One cold dark night, as a devastated London shivers through the transition to post-war life, a young nurse goes missing from the South London Hospital for Women & Children. Her body is discovered hours later behind a locked door. Two women from the hospital join forces to investigate the case. Determined not to return to the futures laid out for them before the war, the unlikely sleuths must face their own demons and dilemmas as they pursue - The Midnight Man.

Set in post WWII England as the country shifted from Winston Churchill's Conservative Party to Clement Attlee's Labour Party. The character's story lines are beautifully woven into the shifts of society in that era.
The female characters are deep and varied. From a variety of socio-economic backgrounds which the narrator captures with nuances and various accents.
I enjoyed the audible so much that I plan to read the hard copy.
The male characters are believable and prominent when needed, those are also from a variety of socio-economic backgrounds.
I read another book by this author and her research into lesser known historical settings in London, England is vast and fascinating. She piques my curiosity in such an entertaining manner. A highly recommended novel.
