About this listen

Four strangers arrive. Only one survives. Who will escape? Five years ago, Jane Patterson survived a horrifying encounter with a serial killer. Now, all she cares about is supporting her young son and getting her life back on track. When she receives an invitation to win a life-changing sum of money, she can’t afford to say no, but the invitation comes with a threat. Whoever sent it knows what happened five years ago …

Jane arrives at the mysterious island off the coast of Wales, but three other people are there waiting for her. Their goals are the same. But there’s a catch. Only one can escape the maze and win. The longer the strangers spend with each other, the more Jane realises all four of them are not there by chance. They are there for a reason and have more in common than they think.

Can Jane work out the connection before anyone else and escape? Or will the mastermind behind the maze claim all four of them as victims?

The Murder Maze is a suspenseful, twisty, dark and unpredictable thriller. I had an absolute blast reading this one. At the beginning it took me a bit of time to get the characters straight and what happened to them. The more it progressed though the more everything started to click into place. This was a book that was particularly difficult to put down. The story was captivating, addictive and I just needed to know who was behind it and what would happen. It is fast paced and progressed nicely.

The characters were all well developed, they were all super flawed and unreliable which I loved. We truly got to know each of them throughout the pages. The plot is highly complex and woven with such intricacy that it just blew my mind. There were many twists and turns that shocked me, took me by surprise and completely blindsided me. Truly, I couldn't have predicted anything in this book. My only little hiccup was with the ending where it just ended too nicely to not reveal too much. It was just a little unrealistic, but I still thoroughly enjoyed it!

Overall, this was a great psychological thriller that had me completely hooked. Many twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat and glued to the pages. I absolutely adore Jessica's writing and storytelling skills, I highly recommend you try this one!

🎧 The narration by Candace Fitzgerald & Curtis Michael Holland was amazing. Candace’s voice is just perfect to my ears, I absolutely adore her. She always has the perfect tones, emotions and intonations to make you feel everything through her performance. I thought both narrators built up the suspense perfectly and it was such a joy to listen to.

I really enjoyed the multiple points of view—it added depth and kept the story moving at a fast pace. The narrators did a great job bringing each perspective to life. They read clearly, were easy to understand, and made the experience even more engaging.

Four people receive an invitation to go and play a game with the final winner to get $1 million! Who would not want a chance at that, well, those who don't have that kind of money.
How to put together a maze that changes so that there is one winner. A maze that is so unique, each person has a different place to go, and different 'things' to do. I was really quite amazed at the different scenarios that I listened to! The different sounds of peoples characters were spot-on to the type of people they were speaking for, too.
The ending is one that is absolutely not in the playing field of information, and one that is epic, to say the least!
Thank you, Jessica Huntley, for a wonderful story to listen to.

Received as an audio review copy from Story Origin, this is any honest review. Extraordinary narrated by Candace Fitzgerald and Curtis Michael Holland, The Murder Maze is absolutely the most twisted and complicated psychological thriller I've read from this wickedly talent author. When Jane, Christie, Ryan and Andrew are mysteriously invited to an isolated island to participate in a winner-takes-all game to win money all could desperately need. What they are plunged into is far more insane the further each gets into the twisted game. Their odd captor knows these individuals darkest secrets and wants each to own up to their deeds; the closer a winner gets to be named, far more darker revelations their captor holds and needs these people to answer why did the event that destroyed so much for June and Ryan...had to happen in the first place.

An amazing story, where harrowing truth and pain leave everyone scarred.

Highly recommended.

Audiobook review- I listened to the audible version and enjoyed the narration. Even though I had read the ebook previously, it was very enjoyable to listen to it. I found myself saying "I don't remember that" in numerous places. I recommend the audible version.
