About this listen

A spy mission, a Holocaust tale, and a first-class work of nonfiction.

In 1945, at the end of World War II, Adolf Eichmann, the head of operations for the Final Solution, walked into the mountains of Germany and vanished from view. Sixteen years later an elite team of spies captured him at a bus stop in Argentina and smuggled him to Israel, resulting in one of the century's most important trials - one that cemented the Holocaust in the public imagination.

The Nazi Hunters is the thrilling and fascinating story of what happened between these two events. Survivor Simon Wiesenthal opened Eichmann's case; a blind Argentinean and his teenage daughter provided crucial information. Finally, the Israeli spies - many of whom lost family in the Holocaust - embarked on their daring mission, recounted here in full.

Based on the adult best seller Hunting Eichmann, which is now in development as a major film, The Nazi Hunters is a can't-miss work of narrative nonfiction for middle-grade and YA listeners.

Critic reviews

"Jason Culp reads this well-researched account of the sixteen-year ordeal to find Eichmann and bring him to justice.... Culp reads with precision, directness, and focus - echoing the efforts of the Nazi hunters in pursuit of their mission. He makes the complicated story easy to follow with accented character voices and conveys a palpable sense of the fear and tension endured in dangerous and fraught circumstances." ( AudioFile)

Gives good info, names (not authors fault at all)

I'm not a history fanatic simply because history can be bland at times but I'm not hating the book good info however not having the actual words in front of you might be confusing mostly because I can't remember name and these foreign names do not help.

Real-life Spy Thriller

I should have known by the publisher (Scholastic) that this was a young adult selection but I didn’t. That didn’t matter. The book was well-crafted, approximately paced, and informative. This a book a history-loving family could listen to together.

East to Understand

I know this is the children's version of the story, but it is a good read for adults as well. The account is clear and easy to follow. The reader does a great job of adding voices to the people involved.

Overall, a worthwhile listen for anyone.

Gripping action!

This book reveals so much about our human need for justice, rather than mere vengeance. I found myself marveling that a man could justify his choice to engineer the genocide of the Jews by saying he was just following orders. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to understand better the pivotal players of World War II and the effect of the trial of Adolf Eichmann.

Nazi Eichmann in hiding is finally found 4 STARS~

PLOT: the details of how they found and captured Nazi in hiding Eichmann.

Adolph Eichmann was responsible for the death of millions during World War 2. He escapes to Argentina and lives with his family in poverty as Ricardo Klements. This starts with the details how a girl dates Nicholas /Klaus Eichmann in Argentina who brags about his father and importance in Nazi Germany. As the clues added up to Eichmann, word is sent to Israel that Eichmann maybe there. A team of Israeli Agents turn up and ID Eichmann. They set up "Safe Houses" where they can stash Eichmann. Fate aids their plan when a diplomatic mission has Israel sending in a jet to Argentina, and the plot quickly moves ahead on how to get him out of Argentina and to Israel. This is very detailed from how to capture him to how to hide him and how to get him out of the safe house to the plane. Interesting. Even the overhaul of the cars they need for the safe getaway. The reader is very good. I give it 4 STARS~ and how fate in the form of a girl dating Eichmann's son who was using his own name (Klaus Eichmann) in Argentina help bring Eichmann out of hiding.

Fascinating

An excellent book, covering the capture, trial and death of Adolph Eichmann. Taken in Argentina, where Peron provided aid and assistance to former Nazis, Eichmann stood trial in Israel.

The accounts of the Mossad agents, many of whom had been directly affected by the Final Solution, was enough to break my heart.

I have never doubted this could happen again, and learning about the British and Irish Protestant treatment of the Irish Catholics, from whom I descended, the Taliban and countless other incidents through history, including Trump and his gang of morons, I am convinced something will happen if we forget the Shoah. Only through education can we stay free of the horror of the Holocaust.

So, please read this book.
