Story
At the height of World War II, Oak Ridge, Tennessee, was home to 75,000 residents, consuming more electricity than New York City. But to most of the world, the town did not exist. Thousands of civilians - many of them young women from small towns across the South - were recruited to this secret city, enticed by solid wages and the promise of war-ending work. Kept very much in the dark, few would ever guess the true nature of the tasks they performed each day in the hulking factories in the middle of the Appalachian Mountains.

But when I free a bunch of particularly powerful monsters from their cages, I'm not counting on them following me home like lost puppies - stunningly hot lost puppies, but still. These manly monsters are determined to repay me for my help, and they won't get out of my apartment, until they're satisfied we're even. There's something to be said for allies so devoted they'll tear off heads and shred souls on your behalf. I'm all for joining forces.

great narration and fantastic story!
Allow yourself to be drawn in to the 2nd book in this series. Great storytelling leaves you needing to know what happens next. Kallie gets closer to finding out the truth of what's behind the reds versus blues vampire story and decides that she must be turned to save her father and herself. Who can she trust? And now she seems to be something all together different... a purple... a melding of blue blood and red blood vampire. Highly recommend!

Enjoyed book 2
A nice follow up to the first book. No sophomore slump here. My only complaint is the narrator reads the MC as more a bratty teen then a young woman. It became annoying at times but the story keeps you going.

Gosh this fmc voice 🙈
I swear, how the narrator chose to pitch her voice wrecked this story for me. Probably the most annoying pitch I’ve ever heard.
I didn’t mind the storyline tho! So I possibly will look to continue this via my kindle.
