Growing older is a blessing. But the slow decline and the loss of functionality associated with aging has led us to treat the process like a disease. These negative effects of aging, however, are not inevitable. Rather, they’re largely the result of environmental and lifestyle factors that, when properly addressed, can be reversed through a process called Autojuvenation™.

Our ability to prevent and reverse these conditions—and feel incredible today—is under our control and simpler than we think. The key is our metabolic function—the most important and least understood factor in our overall health. As Dr. Casey Means explains in this book, nearly every health problem we face can be explained by how well the cells in our body create and use energy. To live free from frustrating symptoms and life-threatening disease, we need our cells to be optimally powered so that they can create “good energy,” the essential fuel that impacts every aspect of our wellbeing.

We may believe that we are the masters of our fates, but in reality, we are at the mercy of hundreds of trillions of single-celled organisms that exert control over every aspect of how our minds and bodies function. These are the diverse species of microbes that work together synergistically to communicate with each other and with every system in our bodies. You are your microbiome’s home, and it wants to take care of you, but first you have to protect it. In Gut Check, Dr. Steven Gundry reveals the emerging science proving that Hippocrates was right—all disease begins in the gut.

Critic reviews
"Dr. Martha Clare Morris was a brilliant researcher and friend who pioneered research on diet and prevention of dementia. Despite her untimely death, her daughter, Laura Morris, and colleague, Jennifer Ventrelle, have made the solid science behind her legacy, the MIND Diet, available to all readers. The Official MIND Diet offers a double reward: delicious and satisfying meals today and a sharper mind tomorrow."—Walter Willett, MD, DrPH, author of Eat, Drink, and Be Healthy

Terrible narration, too much history
I guess what I needed is the cookbook, not the history and the fawning tales of how smart her mother was. What really made this book difficult to me, the narrator sounded like either she was 8 years old or she thought I was 8 years old. Save me from women with little girl voices.

Outdated
Disappointed. I feel the information is very outdated. The author recommended using peanut oil, canola oil, and other vegetable oil. Stopped listening after that.
