About this listen

Only one obstacle stands in his way of enjoying a normal life. He remembers every life he's lived before.

Tres is about to be born...with the biggest burden any has ever had to bear. He is beginning again - as an ageless adult trapped in an infant body. He and his teenage mother face life filled with extraordinary challenges as they strive to protect, nurture, and hide how truly different he is.

But Tres alone must solve the greatest mystery of all: Who is he? The answer is linked to the one question he's too afraid to ask: Why am I?

In his quest, Tres discovers that all is considerably more interconnected and dynamic than he could ever imagine and fraught with far more danger. He cannot hide from the unseen threat stalking him since his birth.

Life as he knows it - as all know it - is in peril. And Tres is the only one aware.

This book is so different and interesting

I really enjoyed this book in print, but also enjoyed it just as thoroughly come alive in someone's voice. The reader had a lot of personality and made it fun, although it did make me laugh how he imitated Sancha and her mom. This story is so incredibly unique and definitely makes me think and wonder about my own existence. Sometimes it can be a little much to think about, and is a little deeper than I'd like, but it was still so good to read and so interesting.

A great fantasy story

A very interesting story, a bit similar to Benhamin Button but with a lot more story, emotions, and a universal theme. The book demonstrates a strong family bond, life experiences, the struggles we face as humans filled with plot twists, imagination and creativity. I thoroughly enjoyed this book by J.A.and I recommend it.

Well- written Novel

The One Apart written by the author Justine Avery and narrated by Jim D. Johnston, is truly a interesting tale that focuses on the philosophy, the deft of treatment, the human conditions, to the conflict of the sophisticated plot, and ending with the bittersweet moments that really make life both beautiful and sad. I really loved how Avery had a vivid imagination of her characters in this novel. I loved the bond that Maria and Sancha , you could really tell the love and bond these two had. Tres/Aaron was also interesting to read about, because it helped to understand more why he was reallt truly the way he was. He was being born again to a teenager who did not want him at first, until she looked into his eyes and knew that this was her baby, and she wanted to keep him. That is a real life situation that woman face everyday the decsion that she had to make, by keeping her child. I can say that in some parts of the story I was a little confused, however, I think that is just the suspense in the story that makes you want to keep reading, I highly reccommend everyone to read this story. From the beginning to the end, I was more and more drawn into the novel. What is the purpose in this lifetime? Why were thes two woman choose to bring him to life? What is the darkness and why is it after him? These are the questions that wonder through your head while reading this novel. Great Job!!!

Mind Bending Drama

The One Apart is a highly emotional and imaginative novel. It touches on real life struggles like teen pregnancy and family dynamics. The writing is soulful and multilayered. The characters spring to life during the mind bending twists of the story. The setting is almost surreal. It ultimately deals with deep existential questions that gives the reader much to ponder.
