Samuel Eliot Morison (July 9, 1887 - May 15, 1976) was an American historian noted for his works of maritime history and American history that were both authoritative and popular. (Wikipedia)

Morison won the Pulitzer Prize in 1943 for "Admiral of the Ocean Sea" and again in 1960 for "John Paul Jones".

**All historians have some bias or slant. And of course, their works were written in a different time than our own. More can be learned about this author in his Wikipedia entry.
