Vindin Stonefist is a scholar and a master of the arts of warcraft. He is kind and intelligent and wants nothing more than to become a productive part of human society. But alas, Vindin isn’t human, and his monstrous appearance makes him the target of angry, murderous mobs wherever he goes.

After being run out of his latest home, Vindin stumbles upon Beronius Avertine, a disgraced paladin of Antrol, living isolated in the woods. Vindin learns that Beronius has been cursed and lives as a recluse to keep from harming innocents by the full moon.

They soon discover that they have much in common and formulate a plan to seek the one who afflicted Beronius in hopes of finding a cure. Along the way they are joined by a rogue prince, named Conlin, and a powerful mage named Avidrea.
