Publisher's summary

London, 1814.

Struggling to escape her past and make ends meet as a modiste, Katrina Sinclair hopes the daring new wardrobe she's designed for her childhood friend Julia—now a marchioness—will attract the business she desperately needs. But Julia's help comes at a price: Katrina must take her place at a house party. They look enough alike for the ruse to work... until Julia's handsome former fiancé arrives.

Leo Kincade has been tasked with catching a traitor who steals from house parties to fund Napoleon's armies. Three women are suspected—including Julia. But when Leo intercepts her at the party, he finds an impostor who stirs an attraction stronger than anything he felt for Julia.

The mysterious woman shares Leo's interest, even if she won't trust him with her true identity. He should expose her at once, but he's too tempted to play along and see where her deception—and their passion—will lead....

Unbelievable plot and soooo far fetched!

Katrina, a struggling seamstress, switches places as a favour and impersonates her childhood friend Julia, who is now a popular outgoing Marchioness, for a week's house party and supposedly no-one is going to notice!! The other guests meet the true Marchioness regularly at balls and house parties but they don't notice any difference (despite Katrina being taller, quieter and having different colour eyes and hair) - then throw in Julia's husband and at least 2 ex lovers and they don't notice she's an impostor either - AS IF !!. Even, after she beds Leo, and she realises things have gone terribly wrong, he confronts her and begs her to tell all so he can help her but she says 'she just can't because she's 'promised'.

I usually like period romances but I found this one so frustrating, it had me rolling my eyes to the ceiling and saying "OH PLEASE!".

I doubled the speed to get to the end so it wasn't a 'I can't listen to anymore' type book but given a chance again I definitely wouldn't buy it and I certainly wouldn't waste my time listening to it again.

Credit worthy - NO NO NO but if you've got an I.Q. of 10 ....then go ahead you'll enjoy it..

Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.
