About this listen

We have the capacity for boundless pleasure, so why aren't we happier? Dr. Stella Resnick has discovered the root of unhappiness: pleasure resistance. In this heartfelt program, she offers simple, sensible tools to help us achieve what we want: healthy lives and fulfilling relationships. Dr. Resnick explores the connection between happiness and pleasure, explains how we've been trained to limit the pleasure we tolerate, offers keys to reaching our pleasure potential - thinking good thoughts and becoming more sensuous. Filled with stories of people who have reclaimed pleasures they once denied themselves, complete with simple personal experiments, The Pleasure Zone gently guides you through the full spectrum of pleasures: body, mind, heart, and soul.©1997 Stella Resnick, Ph.D. (P)16 9; 1998 HighBridge Company Motivation & Self-Improvement Personal Success Psychology Career Happiness

companion audio to the book

i got the books years ago, maybe decades. i always like the ideas she presented on our enjoyment, or lack thereof of pleasure in our lives. revisiting the book via this audio version was a nice experience for me. my focus was on what was said, and how i could benefit from it. for a short 3 hours, it was more than enough to take in the message and get a lifetime of value from the ideas and suggestions presented. if you feel that you are a person who resists various good feelings, and even if you don't feel that way, you probably do in some areas of your life, i suggest giving this book a listen. if the audio quality isn't up to par for you, you can always just get the physical copy of the book. i am glad i gave this a listen. i look forward to the rest of my life with these new observations in mind of how i can increase my awareness of the pleasure i long to experience.

Abridged version

When I got this I thought it would be the same as the book but found it was actually an abridged version. I’m hoping the full version goes into more detail as this seems to brush the surface of each topic! Still great information and insights.

Better audio is needed

was terribly disappointed at the quality of the audio. Had to max to the volume to hear the author. Still not a crisp audio at all.

The Pleasure Zone

I thought this would be a good book to help with depression. But every concept she mentioned ended with to get happier have sex. There has got to be more to being happy than having sex!
