Publisher's summary

The Polyglot Journey: How to Become Fluent in Multiple Languages, by Javier A. Hernandez, explains the basics that you need to know about languages in general; the social, professional, and cognitive benefits of multilingualism; and how to learn foreign languages using the same methods, techniques, and strategies that he used to learn his various languages so that you too can aspire to become a polyglot.

Hernández is a recognized polyglot and is currently one of the few people in the world who are members of the International Association of Hyperpolyglots, being able to speak Spanish, English, French, Portuguese, Italian, Burmese, Interlingua, conversational German, basic Mandarin Chinese, and basic modern Taino. Hernández also has reading proficiency in Latin, Catalan, Galician, Aragonese, Corsican, Sicilian, Sardinian, Asturian, Occitan, Chavacano (Zamboanga dialect), Papiamento, Lingua Franca Nova, and Novial. Today, Hernández is also learning Russian, Arabic, Hebrew, and Japanese.

Hernández earned a B.A. in Political Science & International Relations from Florida International University; an M.A. in International Communication from The American University; and an M.S. in Education (Teaching English as a Second Language) from Lehman College (City University of New York).

redundant and monotone

I was painfully bored by 14 minutes in. The virtual voice is not natural and provides no emotion. The point of the book is to make you excited and motivated to become multilingual however the redundancy of the writing and virtual voice make all the ideas seem painful and boring. The content was very repetitive. For a short book it's surprising he said the same thing so many times. There were a few interesting points in the last chapters, but the writing style made me question if the whole thing was written virtually. The virtual voice does not aid the book.
