I was excited to listen to the book after hearing the author speak live at a conference and then later on a podcast. And even after learning that it wasn't read by the author, I was still hopeful. But....

But then the AI narrator started glitching. I kept hearing a sound like something was in her throat and needed clearing. After looking at the Title details, I learned it was AI, not the author. That explained why there was no excitement, enthusiasm, or emotions throughout the book. Which further explained why it didn't invoke any emotion from me, and it should have, considering all that the author had been through AND overcame.

I tried to overlook or at least get past the uninteresting voice and the glitches, but I finally had to stop the book and move onto another. The voice had only become background noise and I realized I was no longer listening to it. Eventually, I hope to finish it.

No doubt, the author's story, her testimony, is powerfully captivating. And I was captivated though I didn't understand the lack of emotion, considering. But after learning it wasn't in her own voice and then adding in the 'throat clearing' glitches, it took away my enthusiasm for it. Again, eventually, I'll finish it.

I would absolutely LOVE to hear this in the author's own words. Would absolutely love it. The strength, the inflections, the emotions of what she's gone through and overcame, can only be heartfelt told by the one who lived it. Anywho.

It's a great testimony, for the portion I was able to complete, and though I don't know how Audible works with the authors, but if she'd be willing to update the recording with her own voice, I know that the read would be everything I expected and more. Let's hope it happens.

I have no doubt this book is great, but...
