The Purple School Bus Murders, Geza Tatrallyay’s latest murder mystery novel, has the protagonist narrator go on a walk in snowy rural Vermont late one winter afternoon. The sideroads take him past a purple school bus parked in a field that he has walked past many times before but never looked inside. This time he feels an inexplicable urge to do so and finds the corpse of an older woman in the back of the bus with a Bowie knife stuck in her chest.

Our protagonist tries to unravel the identity of the murdered woman, and in the process comes upon other murders, falls in love, and unmasks a Russian paramilitary group. This is a thrilling tale, with lots of jaw-dropping twists and turns that keep the heartbeats of listeners in overdrive.

Could almost be a true story with all the current events pointing to similar Russian influence in white supremacist groups and its interference with US politics. A little cringy the way the male protagonist always calls Anna “‘my lover”. Also strange that other characters call each other “friend” or “bro” or some other nickname rather than just their name. It’s just distracting. Also weird that the couple would accept Illegal money from Russia used to support neoNazis. Narration is very good.

Good mystery

This was fantastic. It really made ne think about patriots a d the current USA leader and his love of patriots. Coincidence, I believe NOT!!
My mind started clicking and humming at the possibilities. High drama and suspense throughout. A compelling and absorbing listen that kept me buckled in and my adrenaline flowing! I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator was great.

Rating 3.5/5

The Purple Bus Murders has a unique and interesting plot that kept me engaged. It’s definitely an intriguing mystery with some nice twists. That said, IMO, it’s a bit odd that the protagonist doesn’t call the police in the first place and tries to handle everything on his own. It’s also never really explained why he’s so determined to solve the case. Still the story was entertaining and held my attention.
