Publisher's summary
Yo ho ho, shiver me timbers, and other pirate-related sayings.
After Stitches wins a competition at The Bolt and Jugular, Ollie and the boys take a well-deserved break from the detective agency. As they embark on a cruise, it seems like fate might be finally smiling down on them.
But what begins as a relaxing holiday turns into a voyage of intrigue and mayhem on the high seas, as the intrepid explorers get in a mystery involving a strange relic, a dangerous enemy, and a rather bawdy crew of pirates with interesting beards.
Will Flug ever stop being seasick - and can Ollie and the gang unravel the mystery of the Bone Idol?

Story
A bad best man’s speech can ruin a wedding. Why do we plan every detail of a perfect day and then give the groom’s idiot best friend five minutes of total power? Enter Nate (Glen Powell), a speechwriter-for-hire who helps people write incredible best man speeches. To keep the best man from embarrassing himself (and the newlyweds), Nate uses his list of don’ts: Don’t mention the exes, don’t be rated R, and don’t bum everyone out. Nate’s system never fails. That is, until he meets Dan (Nicholas Braun).

Traumatized by the bombing of Dresden at the time he had been imprisoned, Pilgrim drifts through all events and history, sometimes deeply implicated, sometimes a witness. He is surrounded by Vonnegut's usual large cast of continuing characters (notably here the hack science fiction writer Kilgore Trout and the alien Tralfamadorians, who oversee his life and remind him constantly that there is no causation, no order, no motive to existence).

Story
Alice's journey begins as all good journeys do: hitting on the sales guy at REI. After a tumultuous breakup, a quick career transition, family upheaval, and a sobriety journey that didn't fix her life quite as much as she expected it to, Alice decides that the only way to solve all her problems is to hike the Pacific Crest Trail. But as she begins preparing for the months-long quest, she realizes the answers she's seeking might not be on top of a snow-covered mountain. Especially since she just learned there was snow in California.

Grimdiana Bones and the Crystal Skull
Ah, what a rollicking tale of high seas and daring escapades we have here in "The Quest for the Bone Idol," the fourth installment of the Skullenia series by Tony Lewis, expertly narrated by the talented Toby J Smith! From the very first Yo ho ho, listeners are plunged into a world of swashbuckling adventure and cunning intrigue that would surely make L. Sprague de Camp himself tip his hat in approval.
Our protagonists, led by the irrepressible Ollie and his companions, are in for a treat as they take a well-earned respite from their detective work at The Bolt and Jugular. But ahoy, this is no ordinary vacation! A cruise on the open waters quickly transforms into a riveting escapade that will have you gripping the edge of your seat, eager to know what happens next.
And speaking of what happens next, be prepared for a yarn spun with the finest threads of mystery and excitement. The introduction of a peculiar relic sets the stage for a puzzle that the intrepid explorers can't resist unraveling. But mates, that's not all – danger lurks in the shadows, and a villainous adversary adds spice to the brew.
As the crew of adventurers navigates through the twists and turns of the plot, they find themselves entangled with a motley crew of pirates, each boasting beards as intriguing as their own secrets. Amidst bawdy humor and hearty laughter, our heroes forge ahead, grappling with challenges both nautical and cerebral.
Now, let's not forget the unforgettable characters! Flug's ongoing battle with seasickness adds a touch of relatable humor, and you'll be rooting for him as he valiantly battles the waves. Ollie and his gang are the true heart of the story, with their camaraderie and determination painting a vivid picture of friendship on the high seas.
In the hands of Toby J Smith's masterful narration, every creak of the ship, every gust of wind, and every hearty laugh resonates with the excitement and wonder of the open ocean. Smith's ability to infuse distinct voices into each character adds an extra layer of immersion, making you feel like you're right there aboard the ship.
So, whether you're a landlubber or a seasoned sailor, "The Quest for the Bone Idol" promises a voyage you won't soon forget. With a perfect blend of mystery, action, and humor, Tony Lewis has crafted a tale that sails its way into the hearts of listeners. Grab your cutlass and your compass, and prepare to set sail on an unforgettable adventure! Yo ho ho and a hearty bottle of rum – this audiobook is a treasure waiting to be discovered.

Brilliant author, superb narrator
A fun piratey romp brought to life, in an undead way, by Toby J Smith. One of the best author/narrator pairings I have in my library. This book offers adventure, pirates, author musings, pirates, magic, pirates, and the usual crew of friends. And songs that you may find yourself singing yourself and grinning about. This is one of my favorite places to "find my smile" when this work becomes too grumpy.
