About this listen
Bring the dream of country living to your backyard with a flock of chirpy, egg-laying, and family-friendly chickens!
Every crisis, from the Great Depression to World Wars and pandemics, underscores the need for self-sufficiency. Last year, CNBC reported a 70% increase in egg costs. Raising chickens emerges as a cost-effective solution.
But it’s not as simple as buying a couple of chickens and chucking them in your garden. Chickens are prone to disease and illnesses, posing risks to your family's health.
So what has turned approximately 10 million people to the love of raising chickens?
Aside from fresh eggs on an almost daily basis, chickens have wonderful personalities, they can significantly help out in the garden, you have your own free-range fertilizer, and they are extremely educational for all the family!
The benefits of raising chickens far outweigh the potential negatives, especially if you know exactly what you are doing from someone who has had a lifetime of experience.
In this guide to raising backyard chickens you will discover:
- Top-rated chicken breeds for backyards
- 7 crucial considerations before owning chickens
- Setup and maintenance cost breakdowns
- Ideal coop materials and plans
- Chickens' nutritional needs and health concerns
- Printable planners to keep track of feed, maintenance, and care so that your chickens receive all the attention they need to be active and happy
And much more.
By following logical steps, you can have fresh eggs, a clean home, and happy neighbors in just 10 minutes a day!

The Easiest Blueprint You Will Ever Follow
This blueprint really is very simple to follow. Asher Hayes has provided the guidance to explain the basic rundown of what you need to know to raise chickens, decide which breed is the best breed for you based on climate where you live, egg productions, etc., and even how to build them their new home. What I really loved about this book was that Hayes take it to a whole other level of information providing routine care for them, sign to look for that they are unhealthy and need medical treatment, and even how to keep an eye out for odd behaviors within their group. This book really could be called The Raising Backyard Chickens Bible.

Everything you need to know about raising chickens
My husband had been talking about raising checkens for ages, but I was afraid it will take too much work. I'm a city girl and don't know anything about having farm animals or birds. But this audiobook brilliantly simplifies the art of chicken raising into perfectly clear steps. It covers everything you need to know, from selecting breeds to coop maintenance and flock health, without any unnecessary filler—just the essentials. It makes it perfect for beginners like myself. I particularly appreciated the detailed chapter on managing roosters and increasing your chick numbers; it's thorough, leaving no stone unturned. The narration is engaging, making the learning process not only informative but enjoyable. After listening, I'll tell my hubby, we should give it go.
