About this listen

A novel that tackles the question: Do I truly do the Jesus thing – or do I stay safe? In obedience to a divine Nudge, 47-year-old Allison Chamberlain buys a Harley and waits for further instructions. Those instructions turn her into a reluctant prophet who points out the narrow fears of her church group and take her into the darkest parts of her city.

This is by far one of the best Christian fiction books that I have ever read. The characters are fully drawn. The author is not afraid to show real characters who make mistakes. Good dialogue. No hokey perfect Christians.

Best Christian fiction I've ever read

I wish there were more Audible books from this Trilogy. I listened to this on the way home from work.

MADE MY DAY

Great writing. Helps strengthen and grow your faith. Good narrating, does awesome on each character. Audible has not yet messed up like this though- towards the end the scenes repeated themselves (like 5 minutes at a time) word for word. Not part of the story, just added on more time pointlessly.

Great book

Allison went from being a rich teen to out of work forty something. When God tells her to buy a Harley she has no way of paying for it, but somehow God provides the money. She goes from being what her church wants her to be to an outcast because she reaches beyond their comfort zone. It makes you want to ask yourself which Christian will you be?

Of all the characters we meet I loved the teenage boy Desmond the best, the reader brings his character to life in such a way it's both humerous and real.

I understand there is a second book and I can't wait to either read or listen to it.

I loved every bit of this book. I plan on getting all of her works. I saw there's a 2nd book for the reluctant prophet, but it's not on Audible! Please make this happen! I highly recommend this book!

Amazing!

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I wish Alison was more relate-able as a christian. You never hear her praying except for "Please God Please God". You never see her make mistakes in her christian walk. I wish she would have been more human in her christian walk, but stumbled at times in a relate-able way and was then redeemed from her mistakes.

If you’ve listened to books by Nancy Rue before, how does this one compare?

This was my first

What does Kirsten Potter bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Her accents helped me quickly differentiate who was speaking. It was helpful.

Could you see The Reluctant Prophet being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Alison would be played my Helen Hunt and Chief would be Tommy Lee Jones.

Average story that left me wanting more

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I tried to hang in there because I thought it was a great topic. However, the story line moved a bit too slow without a lot of depth into the characters. I stopped short of finishing.

Just "ok"
