About this listen

A science fiction short story about astronauts in peril

A crew of experienced astronauts nearing the completion of a 20-year mission in space discover that their ship is being followed by an unknown craft on their way back to earth. In this science fiction novelette, the crew debates an impossible decision on whether to lead the craft back to earth and risk all of humanity, or veer off into space to protect the earth but ensure their own demise.

Wait, give me a minute to let it sink in.

What a truly beautiful story of the troubles and faults of humanity, but even more, the beauty of modesty and humility. There is hope for us still.

G Edward Martin is this generations short story master. For me the core of a short story is the thought provoking nature. Martin creates tales that are engaging on an entertaining level as well as a philosophical one. I would place any of his stories along side Poe, Hawthorne, or Faulkner.
The journey home is a masterpiece of science fiction with a splash of religion. He knows how to reach the human condition through his words.

I'm not one to usually read Sci-fi but I really enjoyed this read! It was slow at first but as I kept reading, it left me wanting and waiting for more.
