About this listen

Ever since Grace Emory was a little girl, all she ever dreamed of was being a rock singer. She loved music, mostly what was in style at the time, but knowing her, you could tell she loved all genres of music. She would listen to her little hand held portable radio most of the day, flipping back and forth between stations. She began at a young age to learn the song’s wording and then sing along, never really knowing whether she was good or not, but as she grew up, all that singing had helped her develop a specific style, all her own. She loved ballads, but her favorite genre was actually rock. She entered a few singing contests during those growing up years, and pretty much won all of them, making herself and her family very proud. Then one rainy summer night, as Grace and her family were watching TV, they saw a commercial for a new TV show premiering on one of the local channels, called “American Singer.” Immediately they all knew that this show could propel Grace to a place she needed to be, to get recognized as an upcoming singer. Her family wasn’t rich by any means, but they knew she had an amazing talent and wanted her to make it in the music business. It cost them a hunk of money for clothes and accessories and tickets to get her to California, where the show would be broadcasting from, but they also felt it was worth every penny to help her career along. Her family was thrilled that she made the cut on the very first round of the competition. The judges and the audience alike loved her and voted her through to the next round. That kept happening round after round and when it came to the finale and the final two contestants, not surprisingly, Grace was one of them! The guy she tied with on the finale was really very good too, but Grace Emory was better and won by a landslide! Grace’s career took off like a rocket from there, and for years her success was unprecedented. She married in her mid-twenties and traveled on the road with her manager husband, Clark Davies, her band The Emory Rockers and her backup singers, the Emorettes. Life was all about writing music, playing music, singing her heart out and getting paid for something she absolutely loved to do. Singing and entertaining was something Grace loved with all her heart and it was a deep belief and her soul fulfilling passion! Life was great and Grace was happy, until one night in Peoria, Illinois, when one of her backup singers disappeared and was found dead the next morning, all alone in an alley, strangled and beaten! Grace and her band, instead of entertainers, now became suspects in a murder investigation. Keep reading through the chapters to find out how Madison Monroe figures out why Avery Sterling was murdered, who did it and why?
