About this listen

A stained-glass artist finds herself threatened when her teenaged daughter forms a close friendship. Memories of her own best teenaged friendship, and of an unsettling encounter amid ancient ruins, force the artist to face her own role in destruction.

First of all, this is a decent story. The narrator is great. Sometimes I forgot that there was only one narrator. The story was pretty good. It had a great concept, but started dreadfully slow. It took me a LONG time to get really really into it. In the end, I stuck it out and enjoyed it.
I didn’t like that there were kind of sub plots or something. Like there were a few different story lines that took attention away from the main story line and I kept waiting for everything to tie together and be like OMG...but it never happened. I felt like those little extra storylines could have been their own book and be left out of this one.
I didn’t like that the detective wasn’t that great at his job lol. I mean he’s supposed to be an awesome detective, but he missed everything all the time. I like really good, strong “hero’s” or whatever. None of the characters communicated with one another. That’s annoying to me. They could have helped each other.

I will add that I ALWAYS figure out the end of books or the plot twists etc WAY too soon. I’m always trying to find a book that can SHOCK me. This one did a pretty decent job of that. I didn’t really figure everything out until the end. However, that may have been bc there were so many holes and loose ends left everywhere in all the sub plots.
But as a free book, it’s good. If you are like me, and just reading this to pass the time until you have a new credit, yes it’s worth it. It’s not the best book ever but certainly not the worst.
