Publisher's summary
A deep secret that only one man knew...until the whole world found out.
Richard Halliburton, the world famous travel writer and explorer in the early 1920s and 1930s, embarked on a journey to explore the world. But he found much more than he ever imagined - and far more than he ever told.
Following the end of World War I, the German Reichswehr set out on an ambitious - and unconventional - expedition to rebuild the military’s war chest beyond the auspices of the restrictive Treaty of Versailles. But when U.S. Army intelligence got wind of what the Reichswehr was doing, action was required. And Richard Halliburton was the man drafted into service.
Join Halliburton on this pulse-pounding adventure in his race to stop the Germans from uncovering one of the greatest artifacts - and secrets - in Egyptian history.
If you love the Indiana Jones franchise, Clive Cussler, or Dan Brown, you’re sure to enjoy this new series from Garrett Drake.

An explosion in the middle of the night reduces part of Paris' esteemed Pasteur Institute to rubble. Among the missing is the world's top computer scientist, Emile Chambord. Even though a terrorist group claims responsibility for the bombing, many in the intelligence community suspect the scientist was actually kidnapped and the bomb set to divert attention. Chambord may have been close to devising a working molecular computer which, in the wrong hands, could be the most deadly weapon in the world. If he were now in the hands of hostile forces, the consequences would be unspeakably dire.

Story
When out-of-shape IT technician Roen wakes up and starts hearing voices in his head, he naturally assumes he’s losing it. He isn’t. As of last night, he has a passenger in his brain - an ancient alien life-form called Tao, whose race crash-landed on Earth before the first fish crawled out of the oceans. Over the millennia his people have trained human heroes to be great leaders, to advance our species at a rate far beyond what it would have achieved on its own. Split into two opposing factions - the peace-loving, but under-represented Prophus, and the savage, powerful Genjix - the aliens have been in a state of civil war for centuries.

Story
Amelia Peabody embarks on her first Egyptian adventure armed with unshakable self-confidence, a journal for her thoughts, and, of course, a sturdy umbrella. On her way, she rescues Evelyn Barton-Forbes, who has been "ruined" and abandoned on the streets of Rome by her lover. With a typical disregard for convention, Amelia promptly hires her fellow countrywoman as a companion and takes her to Cairo, where strange visitations and a botched kidnapping convince Amelia that there is a plot afoot to harm Evelyn.

Worthwhile!
I grew up reading the real Richard Halliburton books so this work of fiction was a pleasure to read. The narrator needs to be reconsidered in future books as his attempts at a German and Egyptian accent were so bad it was laughable. Other than that the story allowed me to go back in time to when such adventures really took place.

A great simple story w/ the feel of Indiana Jones
The Secret of the King's Tomb was great fun and just what I was in the mood for. After reading dozens of the post apocalypse novels and adventure stories with "antiheros than heros," this book came through with an almost reluctant hero who carefully and humorously saved the day.
It is so nice to have a hero with integrity and intelligence.

Great fun in an Indiana Jones or Errol Flynn style
This is bk 1. MC Richard Halliburton begins as a rather inexperienced adventurer. Thankfully his character develops and he makes smarter decisions as he gains experience. Each bk sees Richard growing in this way, containing new “daring” adventures. The action moves quickly and is appropriate for YA through adult. My husband and I simply sit back and enjoy the ride. We own all 4 audios in the series. Narration is excellent in each.
