Ryder, Garrett, Kenzo, and Diesel - The Vipers. Their deals are as sordid as their business, and their reputation is enough to bring a grown man to his knees, forcing him to beg for mercy. They are not people you mess with, yet my dad did. The old man ran up a debt with them and then sold me to cover his losses. Yes, sold me. They own me now. I’m theirs in every sense of the word. But I’ve never been meek and compliant.

Story
Obituary writer Nadine Barbault doesn’t mind being called “Lady Death”. It suits the ice queen persona she’s cultivated to survive the fast-paced Toronto Herald. So when Nadine learns that famous (and reclusive) author Dot Voline has died, she doesn’t hesitate to run the obituary…only to discover that Dot is very much alive. Nadine’s screw-up has brought Wesley Chen of the rival Spear no end of joy—she’s been a thorn in his extremely ambitious side for years. But the renewed interest in Dot also surfaced chatter about a mysterious past scandal.

Story
Hockey coach Ashley Jaswal doesn't take nonsense from anyone … except her overbearing and superstitious family. They believe she's a good luck charm for her brother Jas, the newest Vancouver Canucks draft pick, forcing Ash to attend all his games as he rises up the NHL ranks, sacrificing her personal life (not that she has one—who decided hockey season needed to be 10 months long anyway?). Ash also clashes with Jas’s teammate, Canucks captain Devin Snyder.

Story
Asher Donovan is a living legend—the darling of the Premier League, the (arguably) greatest footballer in the world. But his reckless antics and recent team transfer have caused much controversy, and when his feud with his rival-turned-teammate costs them a championship, they’re forced to “bond” during off-season cross-training. Surviving the summer shouldn’t be hard…until Asher meets their new trainer. She’s beautiful, talented, and no matter how hard he tries, he can’t take his mind off her.

I was caught up in the story from beginning and read it in one sitting. I’m looking forward to book two.
I wish it has been a bit longer with more character development and background. I loved Amir.

Satire? If so, well done!
The basic premise and main character of this book were ridiculous, causing me to nearly stop listening after a few minutes. Fiction doesn't have to be realistic for me to enjoy it, but it should be written well enough for me to find its premise plausible and its characters worth caring about. This story didn't meet either mark, but It then it occurred to me that it may have been written as a farce. From that point on, I found sections of it outright hilarious! The heroine -- Michelle, a doctor from Texas who has come to a fictional Arab nation to run a free medical clinic -- would set the feminist movement back to the 1950s, and even if this was set then, she wouldn't be believable as a successful and well-educated professional. She's supposedly earned a medical degree and is passionate about her clinic but after some months there knows no Arabic -- not even "I'm American! I speak no Arabic!" and has no understanding of cultural norms for females and/or fear about reprocussions for speaking her mind, even though she's aware of there being "political strife." And our super-hot sheik finds this naivete and American smugness so endearing that he almost immediately gives up his long-held bachelor card! Making it better (or worse) is the AI narration of the story, especially for its graphic sex scenes. As funny as this free-to-Audible members story was, there's no way I'm paying for the rest of the series.

Lovely story, prefer human narrators though
I liked the story, heartfelt and sexy. BUT several scenes are not done justice by the virtual voice...

AI voice a dud
I loved the storyline, though it was difficult to hear emotion without human voices. The computer generated reader left much to be desired.

The virtual voice.
Virtual voice can’t ever be as good as the human voice. The inflections were wrong and it was emotionally flat.

An enjoyable quick read
I enjoyed the story and wish it had been longer.
The only dislike was the stupid headstrong woman. Whisked away by a sexy rich man who wants to pamper you and give you whatever you want, why would you not enjoy it????

Umm
I feel like this story could have been so much better. And to be honest the first time the couple were intimate it made me feel like it was a r*pe scene, not a romantic one. This had the feel of one one of the romance novels from the 70’s where authors felt it was ok for a female character to be pressured into sex. Gross!!
