About this listen
Fed up with the life of a lone gunfighter, Thomas Langely left Miles City, Montana - and a past strewn with the blood of those he had beaten to the draw. Planning on pursuing a peaceful life in the New Mexico Territory, the jaded adventurer disguises himself as a tenderfoot shopkeeper and tries to steer clear of trouble. But when he discovers a sinister plot hatched by ruthless bandits to drive a gritty widow and her beautiful adopted Indian daughter off their ranch, Langely can stand it no longer and turns to the gun. Then he takes on the whole gang single-handed!

A fun book to listen to.
This is my first experience with the author, Douglas Hirt and the narrator Rusty Nelson. The theme of the book is a common one for a western; of course, I am always curious to see what the author will do with the old storyline.
Thomas Langley is a retired gunfighter. He moves to the New Mexico Territory and disguises himself as a tenderfoot shopkeeper. He discovers a plot to steal a widow’s ranch so he has to help her. The author provides lots of description so I felt as if I could visualize everything with ease.
The book is short and well written. The plot twists and turns with some humor tossed in. The pace is fast. Rusty Nelson does a good job narrating the book. Nelson has a good voice for the western genre.
