Did you really believe when our love was tested that I wouldn't fight for you?
Scott’s world has been turned upside down when his wife of twenty-seven years asks for a divorce. Shortly after her request, a category five hurricane is headed straight for their home. Stuck together before any steps toward a divorce can be taken. They must evacuate with their daughter and son-in-law. Sheltered with his daughter’s in-laws, Scott puts aside his pride to ask for help. He’s terrified of losing the best thing to ever happen to him.
He’ll do anything to win her back; even if it means believing in science fiction.

heartfelt
This story was heartfelt. It had really sad moments with the loss and memories from the hurricane. As it affected people in really life when it hit. was nice to read a fiction book with a romantic side of that sad day that changed so many lives

Fiction + history
This book was written in a different way than the others in the series that I've read so far because it had more than two main characters speaking. It wasn't badly written at all but it did take me a minute to adjust.
As someone who had family friends impacted by Hurricane Katrina, it was humbling to have this fictional family go through its destruction. The emotions touched on were presented in a real, not glossed over, manner that emphasized their family connections.
I love love love when later books in a series show snippets of previous books' characters and this was a great example of that.

Communication – key to happy marriage
Kelly is tired of her spouse Scott after 20 years of marriage and wants a divorce. She feels that despite her love for him, he is emotionless and does not hear her. It appears that their marriage can only be saved by a miracle. Fortunately, when they discover a soulmate call and allow their souls to speak, they are given another chance.
Great work by the narrator, who gave each character a distinct voice and personality.

My favorite of the series so far
LOVED this story. It was really nice to see an imperfect relationship within this soulmate path. I love this series but up until now it’s been kind of fairy tale stories. I love the emphasis on how important communication is and reestablishing connection. The incorporation of the authors personal experiences with Hurricane Katrina definitely showed in the writing. It definitely felt more than just fiction and pulled at the feels.
As for the narration, I’m split. On the one hand I liked the emotion and inflections in a lot of places. Personally it felt like it had a lack of prepping with the story as well as editing issues. I’d have loved to see more differentiating between characters too. Definitely still better than many I’ve heard thus far.
