Publisher's summary
This story begins with an ending: the day Maureen Muldoon realized the devastating fact that her husband was having an affair—and leaving her for Miss Universe. Miss freaking Universe! How does this even happen?
An intimate examination of Muldoon’s unraveling in the face of this betrayal, A Spiritual Vixen’s Guide to An Unapologetic Life takes a fresh, funny, and fearless look at loss, denial, anger, grace, and liberation. Muldoon reveals the strength that comes from facing one’s fears, the humor that arrives in the darkest hours, and the miracles that happen when you least expect them in this grand tapestry of tales from the dark side. Ultimately, with wit and wisdom, she walks herself out of hell in a pair of sexy stilettos and manages to do what all the king’s horses and all the king’s men could not: she puts herself back together. Maureen is a modern-day Disney princess with a filthy mouth and a drinking problem. She is resilient, resourceful, and desperately ready to change her luck.
When she takes the journeys from victimhood to spiritual teacher/celebrant she invites her reader along on the journey with helpful tips and wisdom along the way.

A bad best man’s speech can ruin a wedding. Why do we plan every detail of a perfect day and then give the groom’s idiot best friend five minutes of total power? Enter Nate (Glen Powell), a speechwriter-for-hire who helps people write incredible best man speeches. To keep the best man from embarrassing himself (and the newlyweds), Nate uses his list of don’ts: Don’t mention the exes, don’t be rated R, and don’t bum everyone out. Nate’s system never fails. Alice's journey begins as all good journeys do: hitting on the sales guy at REI. After a tumultuous breakup, a quick career transition, family upheaval, and a sobriety journey that didn't fix her life quite as much as she expected it to, Alice decides that the only way to solve all her problems is to hike the Pacific Crest Trail. But as she begins preparing for the months-long quest, she realizes the answers she's seeking might not be on top of a snow-covered mountain. Especially since she just learned there was snow in California.

Unapologetic life
I liked Maureen reading her own story. She is authentic in her honesty in finding herself, lessons learned while remaining dedicated to her family and faith. I liked her both writing style and storytelling of her journey. Loved the references to growing up in big family and their adventures. There were many pearls throughout her story bringing her back to her inner self and spirituality for her answers.

Maureen is a marvelous storyteller. Everyone has a story in them but she knows how to make her story come alive as it is interesting, funny, heartfelt and offers motivation with a broader purpose. She doesn't shy away from sharing her vulnerabilities, honesty and wise words. It is filled with uplifting advice to find one's purpose, strength, voice and love more,

A testimony to trusting the process, finding meaning in life’s lefts turns.
I wanted to hurry to hear the next words, yet found myself pushing pause & rewind because I didn’t want the story to end! I loved the way the author started with an ending & then leads the listener through hindsight of all necessary moments in time, observations of synchronicity & dumbfounding realizations of divine order that bring us to HERE, exactly how it is meant to be. I could really relate that without some things going “wrong”, it could never become so right. Recorded by the author, her tender voice and tempo was enjoyable. This journey of self discovery is told with so much texture, humorous humility & brazen authenticity-an immersive heart opening experience.

The voice, the writing and the messages uplifted my heart and spirit
Muldoon is a master storyteller using wry humor and suspense; gently mocking herself along the way. I laughed and giggled throughout. Her voice is clear and easy to listen to.
This book awakened me to my own past stories, my inner dreams and corny as it sounds, belief in myself. I loved the journey of a young woman’s-early-life-backdrop to creatively express concepts from A Course in Miracles. I will listen to it again!

So real, funny, delightful and inspiring
Listening to Maureen tell her story of love, hardship, joy and light was like "soul food".
Her authenticity, humor, quick wit and vulnerability draws you in and makes you feel like you are listening to your best friend over a cup of coffee.
At the same time the beautiful references to the teachings of course in miracles inspires a deeper curiosity and desire to explore your own spiritual journey.

Funny and poignant. Enduring concepts I find myself returning to repeatedly.
A few years ago, I read this book and loved it. So when it became available on Audible I eagerly revisited it. I was captivated by Maureen’s voice as she weaved humor seamlessly into moments of deep emotional resonance. Maureen is a gifted writer and storyteller. She effortlessly intertwines wit and humor with poignant and revealing moments. Whatever your struggles, her story assures you that you are not alone. Through her own experiences, a wealth of “Maureenisms” and practical tools she shares, she guides us in paying attention, introspection, and embracing authenticity. She demonstrates that it’s never too late to reinvent yourself. Enduring concepts I find myself returning to repeatedly.
