About this listen

Twenty-three-year-old Rachel Willis is dying. Born with an untreatable heart defect, she wasn't expected to survive her infancy. But under the diligent care of her mother and a team of determined doctors they managed to keep her alive as long as she lives a relatively calm life.

When Rachel became of age, against her mother's consent she became a librarian, which was her only opportunity to socialize. Nearly everyone who enters the small neighborhood library where she's employed is aware of her illness and respectful of her limitations.

One evening her sister is unable to retrieve her from work, and Rachel decides to walk the few blocks to her home when she becomes the victim of a brutal assault. However, she manages to conceal from her family the gruesome details of how she received her injuries.

Soon after, she begins receiving threatening notes from the person who assaulted her. Instead of informing anyone, in case her life became anymore insular, she's determined to discover who wishes her harm, and put an end to the terror.

Because if you're destined to die young anyway, what do you have to lose?
