About this listen
For James Michener, Robert Louis Stevenson, and Clive Cussler fans.
The Monterey Peninsula's rich past and present are tied together through a two century old secret and the legacy of Robert Louis Stevenson in this complex mystery/thriller. The Stevenson Plan delves beyond the well-known images into the history and culture of this unique corner of the world. FBI Agent John Gibson finds himself re-assigned to investigate a mesmerizing heist from the San Francisco Federal Reserve Bank that leads him to one of the oldest cities on the West Coast. A second story set in the year 1818, when Monterey was the capital and jewel of Spanish Alta California, unfolds involving a gold chest, a conniving Russian explorer, and a threatening French pirate. A convoy departs on a journey to Monterey from Baja California. The expedition confronts a myriad of complications along the trail and carries with it a secret only known to a Franciscan friar. The friar must reach Monterey before it is destroyed and he lets nothing deter his mission, even if he must act in defiance of his vows.
"Reading this book was to me like reading a great James Michener novel."
