About this listen

From 1939 to 1946, Americans gathered around the radio to listen to The New Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, featuring Basil Rathbone as the high-strung crime-solver and Nigel Bruce as his phlegmatic assistant, Dr. Watson.

Witty, fast-paced and always surprising, these great radio plays, written by the prolific writing team of Anthony Boucher and Denis Green, are as fresh today as they were then, and feature perfect sound along with nostalgic war-time announcements, original narrations and radio commercials.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Strange Case of the Demon Barber and The Mystery of the Headless Monk to be better than the print version?

Yeah I did!

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Strange Case of the Demon Barber and The Mystery of the Headless Monk?

When Sherlock was acting in "demon barber" and when the lady who committed the murder dies in the "headless monk".

Have you listened to any of Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes! To me their is not a better pair to be Sherlock and Watson alive besides from the BBC show Sherlock.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No I didn't.

Any additional comments?

No.
