About this listen
Meet the ladies of Portman's Creamery. Join Irene, Chrissie, Pippa, Becca, Mary Beth, Stacey, and Winky as they solve their latest case deep in the woods.
When young people suddenly start showing up dead in Sugar Mountain Park, it appears that these are hunting accidents gone wrong. The gang travels to the park to find out just what is happening. As they dig deeper into the woods, they begin to discover a dark secret. This is one secret that the town would rather keep to themselves. What is really going on in Sugar Mountain Park? Will the ladies be able to solve the case before they end up the next targets?

They investigate what appears to be hunting accidents, however, they uncover something sinister
This story was just.. ok.
I've read / listened to other books by this author and they were better.
Jonathan Johns is a good narrator.

This was along the lines of a cozy mystery. I couldn't get into what was supposed to be friendly bickering and witty banter. It seemed either forced or just written badly. There was also a complete lack of atmosphere developed by the author. There should have been some suspenseful parts but the narration was very flat and businesslike and I think this distracted from the story line as well.
The narration reminded me quite a bit of Bryan Zee who does the Hellsfire series. Where the odd cadence works for that series, it didn't work here at all. There was just no attempt to perform the narration. The reading took quite a bit of enjoyment out of the listen for me. I listed on 1.5 speed.
However much I don't like to give a completely negative review, I have to be honest here and say this was a disappointing listen.
I received this audiobook for free in exchange for an honest review.

This was my first time reading a book from this writer, and I liked it. It was the 4th book in the series, I read it as a stand alone book without reading the other books in the series. . I didn’t feel lost, or confused or anything. the writer did a great job, of catching things up if it needed to be done to make you understand what was going on, without going on and on about the other books.
I really liked the girls. They were funny and witty. This was a fast paced book, that didn’t drag on. This book is a good light read if you like mysteries. I listened to it in the car on a trip I was going on, and really helped the time fly by.
i loved the narrators voice! he did a great job. and who doesn’t love an english accent!

The gang from the creamery are back to solve murder mystery. I'm not overly fond of this book. It didn't grab me from the start, and it didn't draw me in as it progressed.
The narration was well done. The characters were excellently portrayed.
