About this listen

For Lucy, the Jersey Shore isn't just the perfect summer escape, it's home. As a local girl, she knows not to get attached to the tourists. They breeze in during Memorial Day weekend, crowding her costal town and stealing moonlit kisses, only to pack up their beach umbrellas and empty promises on Labor Day. Still, she can't help but crush on charming Connor Malloy. His family spends every summer next door, and she longs for their friendship to turn into something deeper.

Then Superstorm Sandy sweeps up the coast, bringing Lucy and Connor together for a few intense hours. Except nothing is the same in the wake of the storm, and Lucy is left to pick up the pieces of her broken heart and her broken home. Time may heal all wounds, but with Memorial Day approaching and Connor returning, Lucy's summer is sure to be filled with fireworks.

For VERY young adults

The narrator is hard to listen to since she’s so robotic and clunky, however I still did my best to get through her blocky narration for the story.

Unfortunately, the story is just boring and never improved. I liked the science side, but it’s written for very young adults (13-15). The characters are in high school, but are extremely lacking. I found myself zoning out for most of the book while still being irritated with narration. Oh well. I’m sure middle schoolers will like it.

Sweet Listen

This is a sweet listen definitely on the younger end of YA. But it delves into different relationships between friends and family. I do wish there was a little more development and resolution with Liam and the friends group. It's just a little unbelievable that none of them would even try to talk to her and just flip over to the brother's side like that but overall it was a nice read. Narration was ok. I wouldn't say it was robotic like other reviews imply I do listen to alot using Alexa so you definitely know it's a person and she does convey different emotions and inflection. It wasn't the best but nothing so terrible you can't enjoy the listen.
