About this listen

On the operating table, the patient is ready to be put under for a simple appendix removal. But something's wrong, the surgeon is overheard talking to another doctor about this being the perfect patient on whom to try out a new serum he has invented. If this experiment goes well, it will bring fame and fortune to the surgeon. The patient, now, scared out of his mind, can't do anything to break free from the situation. He has been trapped and will be the subject of the mad surgeon's diabolical plans.

Like a poorly written Twilight Zone episode

I didn't care for The Surgeon. I thought the premise sounded very interesting, but the writing fell flat for me. It didn't seem natural or realistic, nor did it seem like the author was intentionally being over the top to create a particular mood. It was often unclear or confusing, though there is a "twist" in the end that may mean we're meant to forgive any unrealistic or over the top exchanges/descriptions? There were times when I couldn't tell if it's that the writing was truly that confusing or if the narrator just wasn't emphasizing things correctly or giving pause to let certain things land. I don't know- I just couldn't connect with it. Luckily, it was incredibly short.
