Editorial reviews

Narrator Dermot Kerrigan's masterful performance will have listeners drawn into Edgar Allan Poe's gothic tale from the start. Kerrigan so fully immerses himself in the voice of the narrator that it is almost difficult to believe that he isn't the protagonist himself, whose conviction in his own sanity and rationality provides a greater horror than the murder he commits. After his heinous crime, the narrator is haunted by the sound of his victim's heartbeat, and his madness intensifies until it erupts into violent passions and emotions. Kerrigan's accomplished depiction of this final descent avoids excessive melodrama and will leave listeners stunned.
