About this listen
Some things are better left alone
Dane Jones works from home with only his three dogs for company. When he stumbles onto a social media page about urban exploring, he’s curious about different sites around Sacramento that seem like they’d be interesting to investigate. He starts chatting with Griff Warren, and after a few conversations he’s even more excited to go.
Griff Warren is also curious about urban exploring, but he has very little interest in experiencing something paranormal. When the guy he’s been chatting with in the online group is so enthusiastic to go, it’s contagious. They plan to go to a warehouse and while there, experience something they can’t explain.
Dane and Griff were looking for an adventure, but they find more than they bargained for at a deserted farmhouse on the river. When Dane finds an old toy discarded in one of the rooms, both of them are thrown into a world neither understands. Full of cursed objects, strange markings, and powers, neither knows how to handle. Lucky for them, Griff’s Friend knows exactly who can help.

Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Story
Compiled by intrepid journalist Neve Pride, this archive of recordings spans the months after dragons emerged on earth, chronicling the communities that sprang up amid the destruction, the scientists, military leaders, and experts searching for a defense, and those steadfastly seeking the missing. Neve and her young daughter Bex travel among the wreckage speaking to those left behind and surviving, against all odds. Neve records everything for history, and in the hopes of locating a clue as to where the dragons came from and how one might stop them.

For some it’s an opportunity. For others it’s a moment to question their faith: In God, in science, in everything. Still others try to keep the world running in the face of absurdity and uncertainty. “It doesn’t feel safe to me"
The narrator was new to me and took a little bit of getting used to, he was very OTT. At first it made me feel like I was listening to some old TV show from back in the sixties or maybe like the radio broadcast of 'War of the Worlds'. I got used to it after awhile and it didn't bother me.
This story is by BL Maxwell, it's only the 2nd story I've listened to by her and I enjoyed both of them. I recently finished listening to Green Eyed Boy, so when I saw this one, pop up on Booksprout, I couldn't wait to listen and review.
This was a fast moving story with lots of action. Urban exploring made for a really great storyline and with the added element of cursed/evil objects it kept me on the edge of my seat. I see there's a book 2, just not out on Audible yet, I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for this.

I Couldn't Listen To This Narrator
I enjoyed this story- what I did listen to of it. (DNF) As a watcher of Ghost Adventures and other paranormal shows, I loved the paranormal aspect and exploring abandoned places. Who believes and who doesn't, and how the adventure and experience will (or if?) change the characters.
Unfortunately, I REALLY did not like the narration. Allen Jeffries does have distinguishable voices for the different characters. But my problem was I didn't like any of them! Griff had a rough, raspy voice. While not my favorite, I could stick with it. But the others... Most of them sounded cartoony or like caricatures of characters. As soon as I heard Dane talk, I immediately imagined some nerdy teenager on Scooby Doo. I didn't stick around to get to the romance aspect. But just listening to these voices just gives the whole thing a light-hearted and silly air. I can't imagine listening to love scenes and romance with them. I really did try to push through, but I kept getting distracted by the narration and the tones of voices until I just decided to stop.
I've said in other reviews, a good narrator can elevate a story so much and really bring it to life, but equally a bad one can damage the experience. I think the story is interesting enough that I would read it, but I can't listen to this narrator.

Ghosts?
Dane and Griff meet and become friends with the possibility of more. They decide to meet and do some urban exploring. They didn't know that trying something new would find them surrounded by the supernatural.

Wonderful story!
I loved everything about this book. The fact that these two men were pulled together to stop the evil happening around them was odd, but it worked out well in the end. The love that grew between them was also a wonderful result of their situation. I definitely recommend this book to everyone who loves mm mystery romance stories with a happily ever after ending.

The Things We Find
Dane Jones is interested in urban exploring. He lives around Sacramento and owns three dogs. Then one day he's on a site he finds someone else interested in it.
Griff Warren is interested in urban exploring but not in anything paranormal.
So the two get together to start exploring a warehouse. Then they explore another site..a farmhouse,Only this trip causes a major issue. It seems Dana is taken over by a spirit. Griff is really concerned so he calls a friend who hopefully knows what to do. Will they be able to help Dana?
Allen Jeffries has a remarkable voice and brings life to each character.

Intro to the Paranormal World and Urban Exploring
I love this book. The series that it is a side story too. The characters and their journey into the paranormal.
The narrator’s presentation was not how I imagined the characters in my head. It took a few chapters to get into his style.
I will continue to enjoy BL Maxwell’s stories. The more paranormal the better! All the ghosts!

A Spirit Story With A Sweet Love Story
This is another great B L Maxwell story. I have to admit though, it gets a bit creepy and spooky but that adds to the intensity of the story. It is all worth the read. I highly suggest giving this one a try. Just don't read it at night. 😆
I still absolutely love this story after listening to the audiobook. Allen Jeffries helped bring the story to life with his great narration
I received an ARC and this is my unbiased opinion

Loved it
I loved this book. Allen Jeffries' voice really brings this story to life. Dane Jones finds a social media page about urban exploring online. He starts talking to Griff Warren about going out to explore some abandon buildings. What they find may be more than they bargained for. A perfect spooky story.
