speaker not a good fit for the story.

Before purchasing the book, I read a review that essentially said the narrator was a snooze. I thought, but it’s Tom Hanks! Doesn’t matter what the narrator sounds like. I was wrong: t to

Zzzz

Thought this would be interesting but found it dangerous to listen to while driving because it nearly put me to sleep. I love Tom Hanks, this bio not so much. Padded content, dull reader.

Oh! Tom!

This was extremely interesting and informative. I really have never understood how anyone could be so happy, sad, funny, and entertaining in one person.

Information

I did not like the British Narrator and when talking money, converting it to English pounds! Otherwise, good story.

Great story - didn’t love the speaker

I definitely would have enjoyed this more if it were read by Tom Hanks himself. Didn’t love the narrator speaking. It was a chore to listen to this book. The way the book was written sometimes you weren’t sure if they were taking about Tom Hanks or a relative from the past. Was super confusing in spots.

Totally British

The book content was fine and informative. The positives stop there, as dealing with the reader was like nails on a chalkboard. David Gardner, the writer is All American. However, the people responsible for proofing this narrative apparently presumed we, the American Reader think, understand , and comprehend British language and supposed humor.
This Reader, totally bastardized American English, especially personal names as well as cities and subjects, as well as common day terms. In the first few chapters, everything regarding money is discussed in pounds and the reader then converts it to American money sums. After thos first few chapters the reader totally snubs the American audience, as he reverts to only using the Britich Pound system and an even worse job in butchering and continual bastardized words and names. if one thinks of a stereotypical British snob, with an attitude of of superiority then that would somewhat scratch the surface of the Reader, whom talks down to us, the listener. by Chapter 18 or so, I was so sick her hearing this droll I could barely endure the voice and ill-use of wording. Yet, wanting to hear the information I stayed with it, until he ...finally finished. So yes, again, content was informative, but the Reader ...!!!!

The Tom Hanks Enigma

I liked the story but it did get repetitive. Would have preferred an American accent for narrator.
