About this listen

This town...there's an evil here...

In a town where the people are colder than the weather, and the situation is crazier and more mysterious than anyone can possibly imagine, Chicago police officer Christian Hawk decides to take on the challenge of unravelling three months’ worth of strange disappearances.

Opting to escape and fall into his work after a personal tragedy, officer Hawk ventures into the cold, desolate town of Holberg, Norway to attempt to uncover why multiple people have gone missing, with no obvious traces left behind except strange markings.

This is his diary, these are his entries.

His nightmare is only just beginning…

i usually do not like detective novels, but Lee mixed this with psychological thriller and made it enjoyable for me! I was given a free code for this book by the author and am very appreciative for it! I only wish this novel was longer! A very good short story listen!

Christian Hawk, an American policeman, who has lost his beloved in a car accident accepts an internal call for help in Holberg, a town from which mysteriously are disappearing people. He exposes the horrible truth and barely escapes alive. For lovers of fantasy thrillers. I enjoyed reading this short read and the narrator as well.

An awesome thank you to author Lee M. Cooper for a free code to his “The Town That Never Was.” {{INSIDIOUS}} Narrator Timothy H. Fielder is one of the best with his audictive deep resonating vocal tones. Unique! Brilliant! Creepy! This curiously wicked missing persons’ investigation had me hooked from the very start. Chicago police officer Christian Hawk’s journey to the cold, desolate town of Holberg, Norway is full of twists and turns. {{ENGROSSING}} What the hell was happening here? Keeping my attention, I anxiously continued to find out and what a jaw-dropping surprise I never would have guessed. {{PERILOUS}} Highly recommended and worth a treasured Audible credit. I’d have appreciated if the book was a longer listen, more than 2:59.

After a devastating personal blow, Chicago police officer Christian Hawk thinks that a change would be helpful to his emotional recovery. His commander sends Det. Halk to Holberg Norway to help in the baffling case of multiple missing persons. Once there, Det. Hawk encounters all sorts of strange people and situations that seem to multiply as he continues his investigation. The narration is wonderful and adds to the spooky, unsettling and sinister vibe of the story. I made sure to listen to the book in the day time. I received a free audiobook code for my honest review.

The story starts out a little slow but be patient because the twists and turns are truly the stuff of nightmares. I really enjoyed this short little story and would highly recommend it. The story has action, suspense, intrigue and horror. I have nothing but good things to say about this boom. I received this book for free upon my request. I am voluntarily leaving this unbiased and honest review here of my own volition.

A solid enjoyable noir style mystery with elements of science fiction, psychological thriller and monster horror.

The writing and narration was well done. I enjoyed the psychological aspect of the story, as it made me keep guessing what was going on. Though the ending was very good, I did guess it well in advance. Still a great conclusion and enjoyable.

Enjoyable

This book turned out to be an engaging read that steadily builds momentum. Although it took some time to get going, I’m glad I stuck with it. The unpredictable ending was a pleasant surprise, keeping me hooked. While the police officer’s skills could’ve been sharper, and the frequent use of 'whilst' was a bit jarring, I would still recommend it for a quick, enjoyable read.

An enjoyable listen that pulls you in.
