Very Religious

I am an hour and a half into this book and I feel I am being preached at by a slightly monotone narrator. I am hoping to get to the storyline that the title summary describes. I might not make if the main character prays or someone quotes the bible one more time!

Held my attention from the start

Enjoyed the story and the twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next. Also enjoyed the faithful lives of this woman and man who truly trusted God and interacted with him. The only thing I did not like was the AI voice. It was a bit monotone and AI voices don’t know where to put the emphasis on the words in the sentence, which is kind of Aggravating. This subtracts from a great book.

Part of the Gospel

The precocious boy who recognized when someone was being truthful had something of a press conference in which he pointed that a certain man lied but God loved him and everyone else in the world very much, which, of course, is true. But nothing was said about repentance or Christ’s substitutionary sacrifice, so this gave only part of the Gospel. I looked up the disease that was a death sentence for the boy, and everything I found said it was treatable. Of course, that could have changed between the publication of the book and now. I generally don’t mind Virtual Voice for shorter books, but it got tiresome in such a long book. It’s irritating to hear ID pronounced id.

The virtual voice.

This wasn’t a bad book- little too much religion for my taste. But it was the virtual voice that I disliked the most. The inflection on many words were off and this should have been an emotional listen but the computerized read lost all of that. Stick to the human touch please. I won’t be buying any further books narrated in this manner.
