This course traces bourbon's entire history, from the 1700s, with Irish, Scottish, and French settlers setting up stills and making distilled spirits in the New World, through today's booming resurgence.

We live in a world of seeds. From our morning toast to the cotton in our clothes, they are quite literally the stuff and staff of life, supporting diets, economies, and civilizations around the globe. Just as the search for nutmeg and the humble peppercorn drove the Age of Discovery, so did coffee beans help fuel the Enlightenment and cottonseed help spark the Industrial Revolution. And from the fall of Rome to the Arab Spring, the fate of nations continues to hinge on the seeds of a Middle Eastern grass known as wheat.

Holistic approach
Embarking on the path to self-sufficiency has always been a dream of mine, and "The Ultimate Homesteader's Handbook" served as the perfect companion on this transformative journey. Rather than focusing solely on one aspect, such as gardening or animal husbandry, it provides a well-rounded overview of the various elements that contribute to a self-sufficient lifestyle. Whether I was learning about the intricacies of mushroom cultivation or the joys of raising backyard chickens, I found myself constantly inspired to deepen my connection with the land and live in harmony with nature.
It made me realize that self-sufficiency is not just about growing food or raising animals—it's about reclaiming control over our own destinies and living in alignment with our values.

Amazing amount of helpful info!
I was really impressed with how much info is in this book, and how useful/practical it is. It covers the basics but also goes into great detail, including recipe ideas for fermented food (never thought about fermented ketchup before) and canning (veggie soup!), different jobs that various family members can do around the homestead, and even how to successfully give farm tours to help raise awareness about the lifestyle and income/marketing for the items you grow and sell. I think my favorite part was the wine and beer brewing tutorial, though. No need for homesteading to be boring! ;) I doubt that I will ever transition to full-blown homesteader, but I got some great ideas that I can use even in my everyday life. I highly recommend this book.

I'm a chicken tender
I really thought this book was thorough and informative. I already have chickens but the author actually educated me on raising chickens I didn't know. I also tried growing mushrooms a few years ago, but I was unsuccessful. The book outlined what I was doing wrong. Now that I have the knowledge I need, I will be trying again. I'm a big believer in having a garden and growing your own food. One of our biggest problems has been food waste because of our lack of knowledge on food preservation. We have a lot of fruit trees, and most years, most of the fruit goes to waste. With the canning advice and instruction from this book, I believe we will be better stewards of our crops. Thank you great book
