About this listen

In the Upper Room, during the meal and just before the Lord’s arrest, Christ gave His disciples detailed instructions, to prepare them for what lay ahead, to a time when they would no longer have His physical presence. In the next few days their world was about to be turned upside down. They would feel abandoned and defeated, and in time the full hatred of the Jewish leaders was to be turned against them. So it was important that they had a deeper understanding of His purposes and His love for them. He offered them protection and advice, which would comfort them and give them guidance and direction in the dark days that lay ahead. The teaching that the Lord Jesus gave them is recorded in John 13-17. These chapters contain some of His best-loved words and are a record of the Lord’s intimate teaching to this small group that He calls “His own”.
