Too preachy. Little suspense. But hey it is free. Also it does not cost anything.

More morality than mystery

Huge fan of Maberry and Porter as a narrator. This story on the other hand was rather boring and was like listening to a history lesson. Thankfully it was free and I can use credit for another Joe Ledger book instead.

Rather Boring

this book is very much like a Sherlock and tail with the clues there being expertly drawn out by the expert and walking talking encyclopedia of fantastic ability
if you like Sherlock Holmes you will enjoy this story

very much like Dr Watson's friend

An enjoyable story that will leave you wanting more! It is a mystery concerning an unsolvable crime or is it?

The Vanishing Assassin

Serviceable short story with the feel of every old Europe detective tale, from Sherlock Holmes to Hercules Poirot. Pretentious white guy instructs fellow, oblivious white guys about all the murder clues they missed. Then, he adds on condescending lessons about the evils of imperialism and appropriation. The ending did have a twist on the usual conclusion.

Which is not to say I didn’t enjoy this. Now and again I quite enjoy an old school murder mystery with my afternoon tea. And Ray Porter was fabulous as always.

White man’s morality lecture
