About this listen

When a driven businesswoman from Boston collides with a free-spirited artist on a Vermont mountainside, they share a memorable—and steamy—night, but life soon pits them against each other over the fate of a family business.

Emily Janssen prefers to play it safe. At thirty-five, she’s still working at the inn her grandmothers own while dreaming of a day when she’s able to support herself fully with her art. And while her friends have all hiked to the summit of the mountain in their hometown of Crescent Falls, Vermont, something has always held Emily back.

Diana Devlin has already made it to the top. Well, almost. She’s this close to securing the promotion that will put her in line to take over as CEO of her family’s hotel chain when her father retires. Everything is going to plan until an unexpected run-in with an alluring artist on a mountainside throws Diana off course, resulting in one of the hottest nights either she or Emily have ever experienced.

Emily walks away from their rendezvous feeling inspired to channel some of Diana’s confidence and finally chase her dreams. For Diana, it’s a reminder that with the right woman, she is capable of wanting more than one night.

But their growing passion threatens to burn them both when they learn that the hotel Diana’s in town to buy is none other than Emily’s grandmothers’ beloved inn. It’s Emily’s home, and no big city outsider—not even Diana—is going to take it away from her.

Will the view from the top be worth the climb, or will they both have farther to fall?

Beautiful Love Story

I love how this romance covered so many interesting and complicated subjects- chosen family vs bio family, the importance of community, and finding the courage to forge your own path. Quinn Riley does such a beautiful job with distinct voices for each character-she/her, he/him, or they/them. She does a wonderful job capturing the full spectrum of emotions. She is one of my favorite narrators. I often purchase a book simply because she is narrating it. This story is a wonderful addition to RL’s body of work. I highly recommend it.

Hot and beautiful

I loved this book. It’s set exactly where it needs to be, the characters are well developed and interesting, and the chemistry between them is unbelievable. Quinn, you have out done yourself with the narration on this audiobook. I loved every minute I listened to this and will probably listen to it 1 million more times. Congratulations Rachel Lacey on an incredibly lovely story filled with heart, sexiness, and hope.

Another homerun for Rachel

A very cute uplifting story. I throughly enjoyed it. An unlikely paring of a small hometown girl and a corporate business woman. As their relationship grows, they each gain a better understanding of themselves.

Wonderful

Some times you can tell the book by the narrator, and this book was chosen because it is Quinn Riley narrating it. And I was not wrong, it is wonderful. I loved the drama, it is spicy as needed not too much not too little, and it is well written.

Lacey + Riley = Perfection

Quinn Riley has made me a forever fan of Rachel Lacey. Personally, this story is Lacey's 2nd best only to Stars Collide (it helps having some of that spice of front).

Diana, a professional from a Fortune 500 hotel chain, finds herself in gorgeous Vermont to purchase a small town Inn. On her first night in town, she meets Emily, a local artist who works at her grandmothers' local hotel. little did they know their worlds would collide. This story has a gorgeous found family, adorable (interracial) gay grandmothers, a beautiful Vermont backdrop and a rescued wild sparrow. Diana has to navigate a relationship with her growing business and Emily has to deal with her abandonment issues as she navigates her feelings for Diana. We have this blending of opposites - artist and corporate professional. They compliment each other and love and support the other for their gifts and talents.

I like that we have some added heavy family drama in here as Diana becomes closer family to her nephew... and then her nephew helps her to learn how to make new friends. Watching her nephew navigate the college (or no college) landscape while Diana is climbing the corporate ladder, it's quite the juxtaposition and having each other in those roles is both inspiration and motivation.

Having a scenario where Emily is dealing with abandonment issues while trying to learn to love again was very touching and also heartbreaking. Similary, to watch Diana navigate her family and their homophobia and misogyny was infuriating.

Rachel Lacey has absolutely done it again on this one, gut punches, tears, and all. She delivered.

Quinn Riley absolutely also delivered (again). She gives the artist "lightness" to Emily and the "all business" to Diana without making her too icy to love on her own merit (most ice queens we fall in love with as they melt. Diana doesn't need to melt.). She outdid herself with the three chapters of spice iN THE FRONT OF THE BOOK. Quinn will always be a gold standard in sapphic romances, she has made forever fans out of many of us.

I recommend both Rachel and Quinn ALL DAY. This audiobook is the perfect fall listen, against an autumn Vermont backgrop. It's absolutely breathtaking.

TEAM GAY ALL DAY ALL THE WAY.

Don’t wait

This is my first review and I couldn’t have chose a better book. I was hesitant and resisted listening to this book for someone unknown reason and what a mistake that was. This book was amazing it left me with a filling of fulfillment and a new fund belief in my self. Emily and Diana’s chemistry is fire and their story unfolds and develops so naturally. Emily is stuck and Diana is unfulfilled and they help each other grow and evolve without realizing it. Rachel Lacey out does her self with amazingly well written love scenes that leaves you….. well leaves you rushing to the next page. Do yourself a favor and read this. Make sure you’re prepared to not put it down till you’ve finished!

This is the perfect fall season Romance! It's so warm, comfy, and cozy. 🍂🥰🍁

Diana and Emily start off hot and heavy, both of them thinking it's only a one-night thing. However, after realizing that their worlds have collided, they try to keep things platonic. That just leaves room for them to truly get to know one another and connect on a deeper level. Plus, I love all supporting characters - family, friends, etc. Makes you feel that small-town magic.

Quinn Riley was perfect throughout! 👏👏👏
