The novel opens with the mysterious death of Kevin Shoan, a man with a violent history, found dead in the East River. Detective John Ford is assigned to the case and soon finds himself unknowingly entangled within a web of lies, deceit and manipulation. While following the evidence, his investigation leads him to cross paths with Dr. Crofton, who enthusiastically offers her help and expertise, as she is also a registered criminal psychologist profiler, to assist in the case. Unbeknownst to John, Dr. Catherine Crofton is not only an ally in this growing case of unsolved deaths, that could all potentially be linked, but is also the mastermind behind the entire string of vigilante acts.
As the plot thickens, the reader is taken on a suspenseful journey through the minds of both the hunter and the hunted, in a dangerous romantic dance, with one not knowing the whole truth about the other. The narrative explores the common themes of justice, morality and the gray areas between right and wrong. With unexpecting twists and turns throughout the story, The Vigilant Doctor Crofton keeps the reader of the edge of their seats, while questioning the true nature of justice and to what lengths someone is willing to go to, in order to achieve it.
