Tess Kingston is a young bride suffering the worst tragedy imaginable. Just as she is finally piecing her life together again, long-kept skeletons come flying out of the closet and she finds herself at odds with her in-laws and in the cross hairs of the police.

Hudson Marks is a brilliant new lawyer hired to represent the beautiful widow in a bitter estate battle and ends up defending her against looming charges of murder instead. Together, with the help of Hudson’s older brother, Ford, a smart and sexy investigator, the trio must find the real killer before Tess ends up in prison for a crime she did not commit.

Unexpected sparks fly between Tess and Ford, and it’s up to him to save her from the real killer. Will she find love? Justice? Or both…

Intriguing, Immersive

Tess Kingston had it all. She was finally marrying her middle school sweetheart! However, within minutes of the marriage, she became a widow. Energy drinks were originally blamed for the death of her new husband but months later when it was time to settle his estate, his death was declared mysterious and she’s under suspicion!

The author, Lucy Cats, weaves a captivating mystery that draws the listener deep into the narrative, skillfully incorporating themes of death, lust, greed, and secrets. With unexpected plot twists and well-developed, believable characters, she takes the time to add depth to each one. The dialogue flows smoothly and effortlessly throughout.

The narrator, Sheryl Hartman, possesses the ability to fully engage her audience as she is deliberate in her pacing and building suspense. Hartman has a solid grasp of each character and narrative enabling her to bring each element to life by infusing her voice with emotion and nuance thus creating an immersive connection between the listener and storyline. She speaks clearly and concisely.

This is a delightful cozy-styled-mystery rich with intrigue and romance. Both the author and narrator deliver a fascinating narrative! I highly recommend this book.
