Publisher's summary

Return to the dark and sexy Black Dagger Brotherhood world in this second prison camp instalment from number one New York Times best-selling author J. R. Ward....

Rio Hernandez-Guerrero has been working undercover to bring down Caldwell's worst drug lord, the elusive and sadistic Mozart. She knows she's finally getting close to him when she's ordered to negotiate a massive deal with a shadowy supplier. But what shows up at the meeting...is nothing she expects.

Betrayed by his clan, Lucan was locked up decades ago for the crime of being both wolven and vampire. Forced to engage in drug-dealing by the prison camp's despot, he is not looking for anything more complicated in his cold and isolated life. But then a human woman, with a stare that tames him, crosses his path....

Rio captures a predator's heart, but they both have secrets that threaten not only their fate as soulmates but their very lives. Will they find a way to win at the deadly game they're both playing...or will their inner natures shatter their love?

SADLY DISAPPOINTING

I’m sorry I’ve had to give this book a lower score than her usual five from me for the Black Dagger Brotherhood and their challenging paranormal romances.. but for me, there was no real romance in amongst the drama, action and world-building. Yes, this is a very talented and skilful author who has weaved another suspenseful plot set in and around the prison where the unwanted in the paranormal world are worker bees for drug lords. However, for me, there just wasn’t the usual chemistry, build, passion or heat between the the half wolf/half vampire hero and the undercover Cop heroine. So, it was a good paranormal web and it includes Vic and Butch and some of the BD Brothers which was great.. but I wanted to FEEL the love too.

Worth a credit? If you’re like me and you love the Brothers and you’re intrigued by this side-shoot of a story then yes, it’s a good stepping stone to the next instalment from the secret Prison that the Brotherhood want to find and destroy. But, if you just want a PNR then maybe look elsewhere. Just my opinion though.
