About this listen

Anya's been a bad girl. A vindictive plot against one of her clansmen backfired, resulting in her grave injury. Scarred and crippled, she finds nothing lovely about herself, and doesn't expect anyone else to either. But when a magical wishing box sends her to another dimension, she becomes the most valuable prize imaginable.

While hunting a rare marbled boar, Riggs, a trapper in Marann's western forest, hears a strange cry. Distracted from the hunt, he loses the sow but finds instead something more valuable than a whole cart packed with marbled boar skins. A woman. She is delicate, and her ears are curiously rounded. She is not wolfkind. Maybe she is the miracle his people have been hoping for.

Riggs must bring Anya to King Magnus, because breeding rights belong first and foremost to His Majesty, who needs an heir. But the female calls to a primal part of him. He longs to keep her in secret and take her as his mate. But if he gives in to the temptation, he could single handedly bring about the end of civilization.

I was surprised as I listened to this provocative story about Anya and Riggs. Spellbinding!

very innovative!

The characters are much more interesting and complex than the first book in the series. The story is full of action and romance with some solid world-building; although there are some minor plot holes. Apparently the only insult in existence is "mangy cur" (it would make a great drinking game it appears so often) but overall a totally enjoyable and engaging listen.

Favorite in the series

I highly enjoyed this story have a Highland lass being transported through time, space and dimension to another realm. I thoroughly enjoyed the romance to develop slowly as they found common ground in each other's presence and developed a friendship that was basis for their attraction. I also liked how they found redeeming qualities in a flawed character from the previous book. I also wanted to note that the narration was excellent and added another layer to the story. I highly recommend the series and can't wait to read the next.

A gifted storyteller!

I loved this story! The performance was really good, but three quarters through, the high pitched voice of the heroine started to grate. Same occurred in the last book with her southern accent.

The only thing that bugged use that in the previous book, this heroin was a selfish bitch but then all of a sudden changed into a kind, caring woman in this one. I know she had an accident and physical trauma, but that doesn't all of a sudden humble you. Especially not in 5 months. And having broken both her legs, 5 months is not long enough to have gone through surgery and physical therapy, let alone having recovered without surgery in the middle ages so much so that she's galavanting across hills, mountains, and on uneven ground without any pain meds, not even laudanum. I know this as fact, having had physically debilitating trauma with surgery.

So I felt there needed to be more about how she changed her stripes. More on how she went from the villain to the heroin in 5 months.

Other than that, great story and still much better than the last couple I've read/listened to on the last few days by much more well known authors. I've been pleasantly surprised by this authors series. An author I'd just stumbled upon in Audible.

Great book!

So first off as I dont less on to many if any hilander romances. I was a little sceptical of this book but I really needed a new book and it was part of the romance package so I gave it a try. I am more of a paranormal romance reader and this was a great break to that catigory even if it has elements that over lap. I will be reading more of this series.

not a catagory that I lesion to usually

probably not for every reader... a bit fairy tail, a bit romance. not the typical "modern" werewolf story. but I found it a very engaging tale with good plot.

surprised how much I enjoyed it
