About this listen
Jenny loves to house-sit, looking after a stranger's enviably perfect home and pretending to be someone else - just for a bit.
Her latest booking is a beautiful, disheveled old rectory in the Home Counties owned by the uber-successful Lewis family. Freed of teaching duties for the summer, and her own teenagers spending time with her objectionable ex, Jenny readies herself for a life of walk-in larders and sparkling water taps.
Battling to control the riotous family dog and stay cool in an unrelenting heat wave, she discovers skeletons in the Lewis closet that further threaten to disrupt her idyll. But then a seductive new friendship offers her a surprise second chance: to open herself up to love again and to finally live life on her own terms.
Laugh-out-loud funny, touching and romantic, this is the new summer novel from the much-loved Fiona Walker.

Couldn't get past narrator's voice. Story just OK
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
No, I would warn friends to stay away. Silly, harmless story, not very well written. Narrator's voice (well, all of the voices as she affected some accents) and manner of reading was irritating. Too ponderous for a silly story. Don't bother!
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
Utterly predictable. Made me mad at myself for hanging in there so long.
What didn’t you like about Julia Franklin’s performance?
Ponderous delivery. Irritating tone of voice, arch and strangely full of air. Poor attempt to render voices of male characters, American accent, Scottish accent, etc. Would have been better if she did not try.
Did The Woman Who Fell in Love for a Week inspire you to do anything?
Yes, I was inspired to return it and never read anything by this author or listen to anything else by this dreadful reader.
Any additional comments?
I had always thought I would like this author. Now i will never read anything else of hers. Next one I will choose more carefully.
