About this listen

Harry Brandon was a quiet man and all he wanted was to be left alone to get on with what was left of his shattered life. But fate was determined that he was never going to be allowed to do it for it had other plans for him as his life became relentlessly entangled with others until finally the anger that slumbered to deep within his breast finally broke through. Only then did others finally learn of the full strength of the anger lying within the breast of the quiet man.

Excerpt
There on the far side of the glade in the shadow of a huge tree he saw her. She was lying on the ground; like an unwanted doll discarded doll she was sprawled supinely on the cold wet ground. He cried out her name in anguish and staggered across the grass towards her still form as the faces mocked and jeered him ever more harshly. He reached her side and dropped to his knees beside her. She lay there utterly lifeless, cold sightless eyes staring up at the moon as the faces crowded round him laughing and jeering. Crying out her name in agony he touched her icy cold face. He saw the thin cord that was so tightly wound about her neck and he tried to drag it from her in a last desperate bid to call her back, yet even as his fingers went to the knot that held the cord she looked directly at him.

“You have killed me,” she said in a hollow accusing voice that echoed and re-echoed ceaselessly around him. “You have killed me!”
