About this listen

The best way to defend the cause of human flourishing against this current onslaught of dangerous economic thinking is to relearn time-tested economic truths.

The verdict is in: Free enterprise has lifted billions of people out of abject poverty all over the world and provided a higher quality of life than has ever been thought possible. But a growing case is forming in public opinion against free markets and for a significantly larger command and control management of the economy. Whether you call it socialism or progressive leftism, more and more people are turning away from the forces of freedom and social cooperation that made the last 200 years of prosperity possible and embracing a system that deprives human beings of their dignity, impoverishing whole societies both financially and spiritually.

What David Bahnsen does here is pull from the masters - the great economic voices of the past and the present - to remind listeners of the basic economic truths that must serve as our foundation in understanding the challenges of today. In 250 vital points, he combines pearls of wisdom from economic legends with his own careful commentary to provide listeners the perspective, information, and reaffirmation they need in order to see economics for what it is. It will empower you and equip you with the truth - 250 truths - that are crucially needed to keep the lights on in civilization and advance the cause of human flourishing.

A great one stop shop for the distilled ‘best of’ the greats, but little to no original thought added. It reads like a strung together list of quotes.
The authors he quotes are phenomenal, but this work doesn’t add to them, it just clips from them.

Excellent summary but derivative

I think this is one of those books that you can use for years. In good or bad economic times you can re-read it to remind yourself of how the economy is working or should be working and reminders of your place in it all. Thank you David for a special book.

This book uses the writings of well accepted economic scholars to back up the points made. It really makes a valid point.

Worth every bit of the timeless insight that the author himself takes the time to read because he truly believes it and because it truly is trustworthy.

Humble, timeless, wisdom

As somebody with little more than a superficial understanding of economics, I appreciate the philosophical, logical, and religious aspects of this book and how it makes so much clear.

Absolutely Amazing

Bahnsen does a wonderful job helping those like myself do what we should have long ago. Take personal responsibility to learn about the economics that directly influence our lives.

Great content. Tough to maximize value in listening format. Would be great as a daily reader to savor each item more thoroughly.

Excellent!

The author's focus on the moral foundation (and primacy) of a market economy is a welcome counterpoint to the usual tropes about the wrongs of capitalism. I plan to share this with my teen children - thank you!

A worthy successor to Crisis of Responsibility
